Numidia (Algeria) has some of the Roman world's most impressive ruins — Djémila and Timgad are UNESCO masterpieces frozen in time. Wine production is extremely limited; this is primarily a side quest adventure to bring wine and toast at these magnificent sites.

Timgad (Thamugadi)
The "Pompeii of North Africa" — a perfectly preserved Roman city founded by Trajan in 100 AD. Walk the grid-pattern streets, see the 3,500-seat theatre, the library, and the Arch of Trajan. Wine was central to this legionary colony's social life.

Djémila (Cuicul)
Perched on a mountain ridge, Djémila ("the beautiful" in Arabic) offers stunning Roman ruins with Berber influences. The forum, temples, basilicas, and triumphal arch are remarkably preserved. Wine amphorae found here show trade with Italy and Spain.

Tipasa
Spectacular ruins on the Mediterranean coast — Roman houses, basilicas, amphitheatre, and baths sprawling along the sea. The sunset views are legendary. Wine amphorae litter the ancient harbor. Albert Camus wrote about this place.

Constantine & the Gorge
Ancient Cirta, capital of Numidia and later renamed for Constantine the Great. Built on a dramatic gorge with bridges spanning 175m drops. Roman ruins include baths and aqueducts. The city's strategic position made it a wine trading hub.
