   Take the Tram to Grinzing

   Take Tram 38 from Schottentor to Grinzing terminus (Wiener Linien ticket, ~€2.40). This wine village on Vienna's edge has been pouring since Maria Theresa's 1765 Wine Order. Look for the Buschen (pine branches) above doorways - they signal a Heuriger is open and serving this year's wine.

   🔄 BACKUP: If Grinzing is too crowded, continue to Neustift am Walde (bus 35A) - same tradition, fewer tourists.

   Order Sturm or Gemischter Satz

   At a Heuriger (try Mayer am Pfarrplatz - Beethoven lived upstairs - or Sirbu), order Sturm (young wine, autumn only) or Gemischter Satz (Viennese field blend, year-round). Add a Brettljause (cold cuts board). Wine by the Viertel (quarter liter) costs €3-5.

   Learn the Prost Ritual

   When toasting, make eye contact, say "Prost!" and clink glasses. Look the other person in the eye - looking away supposedly brings 7 years of bad luck. This tradition dates to proving the wine wasn't poisoned (the clinking splashed wine between glasses).
