   Enter the main building and look for the tiled panels near the entrance hall. The 1909 Art Nouveau azulejos show Bacchus (god of wine) with nymphs representing the Douro valley. Pedro de Figueiredo was a leading Portuguese tile artist. Photograph the detail - the blue and white tiles are museum-quality.

   Founder Adriano Ramos Pinto was a marketing genius who captured 50% of Brazilian Port imports.

   During the ~€23 tour, ask about Adriano Ramos Pinto (1860-1927). He understood branding before the word existed - his Art Nouveau posters were ahead of their time. By 1910 he controlled half of Brazil's Port imports. The museum section has original advertising posters. Ask: 'Which poster is the most famous?'
