   Bronze statue by Martim Velosa has an empty chair beside Winston - take a photo as if painting together.

   Walk to the Pestana Churchill Bay Hotel (harbour front, 5 min from winery). The bronze statue is on the veranda overlooking the bay. Churchill sits at an easel with cigar; there's an EMPTY CHAIR beside him for photos. Plaque reads: "Inaugurated by Minnie and Jennie Churchill, 26th June 2019." He painted this view on January 8, 1950.

   Match Churchill's View

   Stand where Churchill set up his easel and compare the harbour to his 1950 painting (now at Chartwell).

   From the Churchill statue, look at the fishing harbour. This is the exact view Churchill painted - colourful boats, the bay, the cliffs. His original painting "Câmara de Lobos, The Fishing Port of Madeira" is at Chartwell (National Trust, UK). Search for it on your phone and compare. How much has changed in 75 years?

   H&H offers free tastings of their 3-year-old Madeiras (4 types) at Casa dos Vinhos da Madeira.

   Enter Casa dos Vinhos da Madeira (H&H's shop) in Câmara de Lobos town centre. Ask for the free 3-year-old tasting (4 types: Sercial, Verdelho, Boal, Malmsey). This is complimentary to all visitors. Try to distinguish dry from sweet - Sercial is bone-dry, Malmsey is dessert-sweet.

   Taste 8 Wines Including Aged

   The €12 tasting includes 8 wines - young to 10-year - a full spectrum of H&H.

   Pay €12 for the expanded tasting (8 wines). This includes young wines AND aged 10-year selections. Ask staff to explain the difference between estufagem (heated aging) and canteiro (natural sun-heat). H&H uses both methods. Compare a 3-year to a 10-year of the same grape.

   Visit the Vineyards (Only House That Owns Them)

   H&H is the ONLY major Madeira house that owns vineyards. Visit Quinta Grande to see their vines.

   Book a winery tour (email or call ahead). The tour includes Quinta Grande vineyards in Estreito de Câmara de Lobos. Ask: "Can we see where the grapes grow?" This is unique - other Madeira houses buy grapes, H&H grows them. You'll walk the terraces and understand why vine-to-bottle matters.

   Taste the Whiskey Cask Experiment

   Master Blender Humberto Jardim ages Madeira in American whiskey barrels. Find the smoky notes.

   Ask specifically for the "American whiskey barrel-aged Madeira." This is Humberto Jardim's experimental project - Madeira aged in ex-bourbon casks. Not always available; price varies (€20-40 for tasting). Taste for vanilla, smoke, and caramel notes that normal Madeira barrels don't give. If unavailable, ask when the next batch releases.
