Push through the unmarked curtain beneath Cortina's bell tower (Campanile) in the centro storico — no sign, just fabric. Inside: a 64-year-old wine bar with wooden booth seats from 1962 designed so the whole room socializes. Founder Gerry built it intentionally: booths face OUT, not inward, forcing strangers to fraternize during the 1956-2026 Olympic cycle (Cortina hosted in '56, returns Feb 6-22, 2026). This is what Hemingway sought in Paris cafes — it exists here, behind a curtain, beneath a bell tower. Arrive 18:00-20:00 when locals appear after skiing.
🔄 BACKUP: If Enoteca Cortina is closed (rare), walk 5 minutes to Baita Fraina enoteca in centro near Largo Poste. Different vibe (outdoor barrel tables, 600 labels) but still excellent.
