   Enter Renoir's Preserved Studio

   The studio is preserved with Renoir's easel, palettes, and painting materials at the Maison Renoir — his actual house in Essoyes. The same light that attracted him still floods through the windows where he worked every summer from 1888 to 1915. Entry is approximately €8-10 for self-guided tours with information panels and audio guide available.

   Find Renoir's Grave

   Renoir, his wife Aline, and their son Pierre are buried in the small cemetery on the hill above the village. The grave is simple, but the view over the village explains why he loved this place enough to return every summer for nearly three decades. Walk uphill from the center — the cemetery is small and the Renoir family plot is marked and easy to find.

   Walk the Village Renoir Painted

   These scenes of the church, the river, and the bridge appear in Renoir's paintings, and you can compare what you see to reproductions in the museum. The light on the water and village backdrop remain unchanged from his era. Get the walking trail map from the Maison Renoir where markers show exact painting locations.
