   The barrel aging room was built in 1909 by Eiffel's studio - same team that built the tower at CVNE bodega (Barrio de la Estación, Haro). Iron rafters, cathedral height, thousands of barrels. Book via cvne.com/en/visits/ or walk in (often available same-day). Standard tour €15-20. When you enter the barrel room, look UP at the iron structure. Ask: "Is this really Eiffel's studio?" The guides love telling the story.

2. ⛰️ 2

   Visit the Wine Cemetery

   Enter the "Wine Cemetery" - where century-old vintages "rest peacefully" in the underground cemetery within the cellar system. Bottles from 1879 covered in natural mold. The most valuable bottles cost €4000+ and sell at auction. A serene, eerie atmosphere where time stops. This is included in the standard tour, but ASK specifically: "Can we spend extra time in the Cemetery?" Most guides will give you a moment of silence among the oldest bottles. Ask which is the oldest visible bottle and what year it is from.

   Taste the #1 Wine in the World

   Imperial Gran Reserva - ranked #1 wine in the world by Wine Spectator in 2013. First Spanish wine EVER to win. Only produced in exceptional years. Book the "Imperial Tour" (€35-50) specifically - it includes tasting of Imperial with cheese and ham in the tasting room. Ask your guide: "Why was 2004 Imperial ranked #1 in the world?" They will explain the perfect storm of vintage + winemaking + luck.

   🔄 BACKUP: Standard tour does not include Imperial. If you can only do standard, buy a glass in Wine Bar (~€15-20).

   Walk the Golden Mile

   This single street has 7 legendary bodegas - the "greatest concentration of centenary wineries in the world" along Barrio de la Estación street. Modern Rioja was INVENTED here when French vines died and merchants arrived by train. After CVNE, walk the street. Pass López de Heredia (1877), La Rioja Alta (1890), Muga (1932), Roda (2001). Read the founding dates on each building. You are walking through 150 years of defiance against phylloxera.
