   Find the Steepest Vineyards in the World (90% Gradient)

   Fully has the STEEPEST vineyards in the world - gradients up to 90% (42 degrees). That's the same angle as the Bec des Rosses face that freeriders ski. Except here, it's VINES. The terraces are so steep they're sometimes SMALLER than their supporting walls - 30 vines per terrace. Petite Arvine and Humagne Rouge grow here because the terroir is EARNED with sweat. Drive 30 min from Verbier via Route de Verbier → Route de Marti to Fully. Park in town, look UP at the hillsides - the terraced vineyards are unmistakable (horizontal lines on near-vertical slopes). Walk toward them on the Chemin du Vignoble hiking trail to see the dry stone walls and realize: this is insane.

   🔄 BACKUP: If you can't drive, take PostBus from Verbier to Le Châble, then to Fully (1hr+). Or ask any Verbier wine shop: 'Where are the steepest vineyards?' They'll say Fully.

   Taste Petite Arvine from 90-Degree Slopes

   Petite Arvine is Valais's signature white - 'citrus or wisteria aromas, liveliness, saline notes on the finish.' It grows on Fully's 90% gradients because the dry/sunny climate and warm winds favor late-ripening varieties. This wine tastes DIFFERENT because the terroir is different - those 42-degree slopes drain perfectly, concentrate sugars, and punish the winemakers. Visit Cave du Rhodan (Flantheystrasse 1, Salgesch, +41 27 455 04 07) OR Les Celliers de Sion and ask for 'Petite Arvine from Fully' specifically. Taste for the saline finish - that's the minerality from limestone terraces. Expect to pay €10-15 per glass, €25-40 per bottle.

   🔄 BACKUP: If you can't visit a winery, buy a bottle of Fully Petite Arvine at any Verbier wine shop (look for 'Fully' on the label). Drink it while looking at photos of the 90% slopes. The taste will make more sense.

   Hike the Chemin du Vignoble Through Terraced History

   This is 'famed for its traditional vineyards with terraced vineyards, dry stone walls, limestone cliffs and old bisses (irrigation channels).' You're walking through centuries of wine history - these terraces were built by hand, stone by stone, because this land is so steep that normal farming is impossible. Park in Fully town center and follow signs to 'Chemin du Vignoble' heading east toward Saillon. The trail winds through the terraces where you'll see the dry stone walls, the vines clinging to slopes, the cables for harvest. Stop to touch the stone walls - they're warm from sun and ancient. With 30 vines per terrace, 'agricultural conditions are particularly delicate.'

   🔄 BACKUP: If hiking's not your thing, drive the Route du Vignoble (vineyard road) from Fully to Chamoson. You'll see the terraces from the car, but you'll miss the scale. These slopes are best understood on foot.

   Locate a Bisse (Irrigation Channel) from the 1300s

   Bisses are ancient irrigation channels (some dating to 1300s) that bring water from mountain streams to the dry vineyards. They're carved into rock, lined with stone, and maintained for 700+ years. Valais is DRY (one of the driest regions in Switzerland) and these slopes are too steep for rain to collect. Without bisses, there's no water = no vines = no wine. Walk the Chemin du Vignoble between Fully and Saillon and look for horizontal stone channels (30-50cm wide) running across the slope. Follow one - trace its path uphill toward the water source, then downhill toward the vines. Touch the stone - it's smooth from 700 years of water flow.

   🔄 BACKUP: If you can't find one on the trail, visit the Bisse de Savièse (near Sion, 20 min from Fully) - it's a restored historic bisse with signage explaining the system. Not as wild as finding one yourself, but you'll learn the engineering.
