   Ride the Funicular That Invented Destination Skiing

   December 1931. The Parsenn funicular opened as the FIRST ski lift in the region - the milestone that invented modern alpine skiing. Before this, you hiked up. After this, skiing became a DESTINATION. But the REAL history is 1895: four English tourists got lost on the Weissfluhjoch and ended up in Küblis. That accidental descent became "a myth of the Alps" - Guinness World Records now calls it "the longest all-downhill ski run in the world" (12km, 2,034m vertical drop). Board the funicular at Davos DKB (1,560m), and as you ascend to Weissfluhjoch (2,665m), look for historical photos showing the 1931 opening. At the Höhenweg interchange, step out and look down the valley toward Küblis - that's where those lost tourists ended up.

   🔄 BACKUP: If funicular is closed (mechanical issues), the Jakobshorn cable car offers similar vintage infrastructure stories (1980s freestyle mecca).

   Ski the Longest Run in the World (or Admit You Can't)

   2,034 meters of vertical drop. Average gradient 17%, maximum 26%. This is called "the cradle of skiing in Switzerland" because it transformed skiing from mountain necessity to global sport. The route: high-Alpine terrain across Parsennfurgga → Schifer on gentler terrain → light mountain forest → Küblis valley finish. Start early (first funicular up), ski at YOUR pace, and count landmarks: Parsennfurgga (1/3 done), Schifer (2/3 done), first trees (you're going to make it). The middle section through forest is WHERE MOST PEOPLE REALIZE THEIR THIGHS ARE BURNING. When you reach Küblis, your legs will be jelly. That's the point.

   🔄 BACKUP: If 12km is too much, ski partway and take a mid-mountain lift back. No shame - the Guinness record was set by experts, not tourists.

   Toast Victory with the Wine That Only Exists on 80 Hectares

   You just skied 12km. Your thighs are screaming. You need wine. Order Bündner Herrschaft Pinot Noir from Maienfeld (20 minutes down the valley) at the Küblis village Gasthof. The Bündner Herrschaft has ONLY 420 hectares of vines - Romans planted Pinot Noir here the same time they planted the Rhône. 68% of Graubünden vines are Pinot Noir. Order by the glass, smell for dark cherry and earth, drink slowly. Your body is flooded with endorphins from the descent - the wine will hit HARD and FAST. That's the mountain experience.

   🔄 BACKUP: If the Gasthof's wine list is limited, order ANY Swiss wine. The victory is earned. The wine is just the ceremony.

   Ride the Train Back and Watch Locals Do It Daily

   The train back to Davos takes ~30 minutes. You'll see locals doing this commute DAILY during ski season - they ski down in the morning, train back up, ski down again. For them, the 12km descent isn't a Guinness record - it's Tuesday. Board the red Rhätische Bahn train with your skis, sit by the window, and watch the route you just descended pass in reverse. Watch the locals' equipment: worn edges, packed lunches, zero fancy gear. They're not Instagram skiers. They're the reason this run EXISTS. Your legs will ACHE. Smile anyway.

   🔄 BACKUP: If you missed the train (last one ~5pm), ask in Küblis about taxi service back to Davos. Expensive but necessary - don't get stranded.
