This terrace offers 360° views: Wilder Kaiser massif to the north, Kitzbüheler Horn to the east, and Großglockner (Austria's highest peak, 3,798m) to the south on clear days. At Hochkitzbühel bei Tomschy restaurant (top of Hahnenkamm cable car at 1,700m), the Tomschy family has run this legendary spot for decades. Arrive 1-2 hours before sunset and request a table on the Sonnenterrasse. Order Austrian wine — Grüner Veltliner (white) or Zweigelt (red). Ask the server: 'Which peak is Großglockner?' Then watch the alpenglow (pink light on peaks) develop as the sun sets. The altitude and views make even simple wine taste transcendent.
🔄 BACKUP: If the terrace is full, the Weinstube (wine room) inside has floor-to-ceiling windows facing Wilder Kaiser. The Gondelstube (gondola room) faces Kitzbüheler Horn. Both have panoramic views and the same wine list.
