Find the back corner table with the view of the original 1879 cornerstone, order the Valais wine flight (3 wines, CHF 30) - request Fendant, Petite Arvine, Cornalin. From Bahnhofstrasse, walk toward the Catholic church with the distinctive spire to find their graves behind the church: Michel Croz (French guide, age 35), Charles Hudson (English clergyman, age 36), Douglas Hadow (age 19). Lord Francis Douglas's body was never found - he has a memorial but no grave. Visit early morning (7am-9am) for quiet reflection, or sunset (6pm-8pm) when alpenglow hits the Matterhorn visible from the churchyard.
