   Amigne is THE Vétroz grape — of the 40 hectares of Amigne worldwide, 33 are in Vétroz (83%). That's it. Mentioned in late 17th century documents between Sierre and Sion, it settled in Vétroz and NEVER LEFT. Cave La Madeleine's Amigne de Vétroz Amphore 2017 and Grand Cru 2017 both scored 94 points from Robert Parker — world-class from a grape that grows in an area smaller than Central Park. Visit Cave La Madeleine (Fontannaz family winery, 16 hectares) and taste Amigne with the BEE LABEL system: 1 bee = dry (<8g/l sugar), 2 bees = medium-sweet (9-25g/l), 3 bees = sweet (>25g/l) — a classification system EXCLUSIVE to Vétroz since 2005.

   Decode the Bee Code (1-3 Bees = Sweetness Levels)

   Since 2005, Amigne de Vétroz labels MUST show 1, 2, or 3 bees to indicate sweetness — UNIQUE to this region, no other Swiss wine has a legally designated sweetness gauge like this. 1 bee = <8g/l residual sugar (dry), 2 bees = 9-25g/l (medium-sweet), 3 bees = >25g/l (sweet, 'raisined grapes'). Before 2005? No classification — Amigne could be bone-dry or dessert-sweet with NO label indication. Walk into any Vétroz wine shop, look at Amigne bottles on the shelf, count the bees, compare a 1-bee bottle next to a 3-bee bottle. Same grape, same village, different sweetness. The bee told you.

   Find the Medieval Village Where Monks Refined the Terroir

   Vétroz has been a wine center since ROMAN times with ancient artifacts proving Roman presence. During the Middle Ages, controlled by the House of Savoy, MONASTERIES shaped Valais wine culture — monks meticulously cultivated vineyards and refined winemaking methods still visible in cellars today. Walk Vétroz old town looking for medieval architecture, narrow streets, historic wine cellars with monastic origins. Find informational panels about the House of Savoy, monastery influence, Roman artifacts. Stand in the village center, look UP at 4,000m peaks surrounding you, look DOWN — 33 of the world's 40 hectares of Amigne are within a few kilometers of where you're standing.

   Taste Amigne Dry vs Sweet (Same Grape, Different Universe)

   Amigne is a CHAMELEON. Dry (1 bee): lime tree tea, pear, citrus, white pepper, noticeable tannins, slightly bitter finish. Sweet (3 bees): orange/tangerine zest, dried apricots, balanced, VERY long finish. Same grape, same terroir, different harvest timing. Order a 1-bee Amigne (dry) and a 3-bee Amigne (sweet) side-by-side at Cave La Madeleine or Germanier (CHF 8-12/glass each). Taste dry first: notice acidity, citrus, bitter finish. Then taste sweet: notice orange zest, apricot, long finish. The dry cleans your palate, the sweet lingers for minutes — that's the bee code in action.
